Global – Boeing is advancing its Competency-Based Training & Assessment (CBTA) framework with ongoing content development, including a new video series featuring commercial pilots discussing the significance of standard operating procedures and their role in enhancing safety and efficiency within the CBTA methodology.

  • Boeing's CBTA framework represents a fundamental shift in pilot training philosophy, moving from traditional task-based training toward a performance-driven system that develops and evaluates nine core competencies — focusing on the skills, knowledge, and behaviors essential for building a more resilient, agile, and safety-focused aviation workforce.
  • Boeing's CBTA is being integrated across flight training, early career training, and maintenance training offerings. Boeing has collaborated with early career flight schools to introduce the CBTA Learning Library, designed to support flight school instructors in teaching cadets during the ab initio stage of training.
  • Boeing recently hosted a webinar in April 2026 featuring Dominican Republic carrier Arajet's transition to CBTA methodology, and has partnered with flight schools including Leading Edge Aviation in the UK, Egnatia Aviation in Greece and 43 Air School in South Africa to develop and refine its Area 100 KSA training resources.
