European Training Aircraft Manufacturer Reveals Hydrogen-Electric Propulsion Ambitions

30th Apr 2022

France based Elixir Aircraft shared at Aero Friedrichshafen that is working closely with France based Turbotech to develop a hydrogen-electric propulsion system with a target certification in 6 years.

Turbotech is a French company offering “haute performance” propulsion systems for aviation industry actors looking for efficient and eco-friendly flight solutions. Turbotech is the first company in the world to introduce regenerative turbines for aeronautical applications, supported by a strong partnership with the French manufacturer Le Guellec, to develop the key technology of micro-tubes heat exchangers. Its optimised heat exchanger technology lowers the environmental impact of the turbine and makes the regenerative turbine the best solution for the future of aero-propulsion.

At Aero Friedrichshafen Turbotech revealed its new turbogenerator power unit – the unit can operate using multiple types of fuel to drive the electric generator.
