Irish Pilot Training Organisation AFTA Marks 30 Years with Euro 35 Million Economic Contribution
Ireland – Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) has marked over 30 years of operations in Cork and Waterford, with a recent report from Munster Technological University (MTU) highlighting the academy’s significant economic and social contributions to the region.

The MTU economic impact report estimates AFTA’s total contribution to the Cork and Munster economy at over €35 million, including:

€22 million in direct impact

€13 million in indirect economic activity

AFTA will expand its workforce by 15, increasing total headcount to 85 employees across its Cork and Waterford training centers.

Founded in 1995

AFTA has trained over 2,800 pilots to date, operating a fleet of 26 aircraft and advanced simulators, including Boeing 737NG and 737 MAX 8200 devices

The academy maintains partnerships with major airlines such as Ryanair, Air Astana, VistaJet, ASL Airlines Ireland, and GlobeAir, and collaborates with Munster Technological University (MTU) for academic programs
