New Indian Turboprop Operator FLY91 Receives Regulatory Nod for Commercial Operations

The Indian aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted approval for the initiation of commercial operations for Goa-based airline FLY91. On March 6, 2024 the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued the Air Operator Certificate to FLY91, signifying the completion of all regulatory and compliance requirements necessary for the airline to commence its operations.

FLY91’s Managing Director and CEO, Manoj Chacko, described this development as a significant milestone and expressed anticipation for the commencement of ticket sales, leading to the launch of commercial operations in the near future.

On February 28, FLY91 received its inaugural aircraft, an ATR 72-600, which has undergone proving flights under DGCA supervision at Manohar International Airport.

The airline currently possesses two ATR-72 aircraft, with plans to acquire an additional four by September, 2024. Over the next five years, FLY91 intends to add six turboprops annually.
