Airbus Secures Vietnam Airlines and Vietravel Commitments Covering 55 Aircraft in 2026

Vietnam & France – Aircraft manufacturer Airbus has confirmed separate aircraft commitments from Vietnam Airlines and Vietravel Airlines covering a combined 55 aircraft following agreements signed in Paris on 10 September 2026.

• The commitments were made through a Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam Airlines and Airbus for five additional A350-900s, and a Letter of Intent covering 20 A220s and 30 A321-family aircraft for Vietravel Airlines.
• Vietnam Airlines expects the five A350-900s to be delivered during 2033 and 2034. The carrier currently operates 14 A350-900s and has identified the acquisition of 30 widebody aircraft after 2030 as part of its longer-term fleet planning.
• Vietnam Airlines already has dedicated A350 simulator capability in Vietnam through its cooperation with CAE. AFM previously reported that the parties extended their agreement covering operation of Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 Full Flight Simulators through the end of 2033.
• Vietravel Airlines' Letter of Intent covers 20 A220s and 30 A321-family aircraft, with T&T Group stating that the latter is expected to include A321neo and A321XLR variants. Deliveries are planned to begin in 2029.

About Vietravel Airlines
Vietravel Airlines is a Vietnamese carrier that commenced commercial operations in January 2021 and is now part of the T&T Group ecosystem. Its current operation uses Airbus A321 aircraft, while T&T Group is building a longer-term fleet plan around the A220 and A321 families. T&T Group reported four aircraft in the airline's fleet following the addition of A321 VN-A290 in June 2026 and subsequently outlined further aircraft additions during the second half of the year.
