French Startup X-R Solutions to Showcase Mixed-Reality Pilot Training Platform in 2026

France – French aviation training technology company X-R Solutions has outlined how it is positioning its X-R Trainer mixed-reality platform as a complementary preparation and procedure-training tool rather than a replacement for Level D Full Flight Simulators.

• The company identifies cockpit familiarisation, checklist and procedure review, briefing rehearsal, memory-item practice and preparation for simulator sessions as training activities that can be supported through immersive technology before pilots enter an FFS.
• X-R Solutions’ X-R Trainer uses virtual, augmented and mixed-reality technologies for professional pilot training. The company states that virtual reality is particularly applicable to cockpit familiarisation, while mixed reality can support normal procedure practice and emergency-manoeuvre rehearsal where physical interaction and kinesthetic memory are relevant.
• The platform is designed to support individual and collaborative training and can be configured for aircraft systems, normal procedures, manoeuvres and emergency procedures. X-R Solutions currently identifies Airbus and Boeing aircraft as areas of specialisation while stating that other commercial and general aviation aircraft can also be developed according to customer requirements.
• X-R Solutions supports multiple XR hardware platforms rather than a single headset ecosystem, listing Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 3, Varjo XR-4 and Samsung Galaxy XR among the devices for which it develops immersive applications.
• X-R Solutions recently announced a collaboration with Air France to develop two initial immersive-training applications. One involves virtual-reality reconstruction of operational situations for flight-safety debriefing, while the second is focused on familiarisation with operating risks associated with Florence Airport in Italy before crews fly to the destination.
• The Air France collaboration provides a current airline application for X-R Solutions’ technology beyond generic procedural practice. X-R Solutions said the Florence use case is intended to allow crews to visualise potential threats identified by Flight Safety associated with the airport’s operational environment and surrounding terrain.
