Spain & Kazakhstan – Flight training provider FTEJerez has completed its first Multi-Crew Pilot Licence program for Air Astana, with six cadets finishing the academy-delivered phase following Airbus A320 training in Madrid. The completion moves the first cohort into airline-operated simulator, base and conversion training before progression toward line operations.

  • Their Multi-Crew phase began on 19 May 2026, followed by an Airbus A320 Type Rating in Madrid that concluded on 15 September.
  • FTEJerez and Air Astana integrated the airline’s operating procedures throughout the Multi-Crew phase. The two organisations conducted joint online standardisation sessions for FTEJerez instructors, while cadets received access to operational applications and tools used by Air Astana.
  • The six cadets will now return to Air Astana for an initial simulator-training phase, followed by base training and an operator conversion course before beginning line operations.
  • FTEJerez’s A320 Type Rating syllabus begins on its MPS Airbus A320 FTD 1 at Jerez, with later stages conducted using Airbus Full Flight Simulators operated by AFG Aeronautical Training Centre near Madrid Barajas Airport.
  • The first MPL completion follows the renewal of FTEJerez and Air Astana’s training agreement in September 2026. The two organisations have worked together since 2013, with more than 150 Air Astana cadets having trained at FTEJerez; additional MPL groups are expected under the renewed arrangement.
