India & South Africa – Indian cadet pilot training provider Garuda Aviation has sent its latest cohort of women cadets to 43 Air School in Port Alfred for the next stage of their pilot training.

Garuda’s currently published cadet pathway lasts approximately 21 months, comprising four months of initial ground school in Delhi NCR, one month of South African ground-school preparation, nine months of flight training at 43 Air School, four months of licence-conversion training in India and three months of MCC and Airbus A320 type-rating activity.
Garuda’s principal published programme is linked to IndiGo. Candidates undergo an initial assessment managed by Garuda followed by a group exercise and final interview conducted by the airline, with selected candidates receiving an employment letter of intent subject to completing the required training and licensing stages.
IndiGo announced its partnership with Garuda Aviation Academy in June 2024 to train ab-initio candidates as future junior first officers. The airline described Garuda as its eighth cadet programme partner appointed over a 13-year period.
Garuda states that it established its relationship with 43 Air School in 2019 and that the organisations have since trained more than 100 IndiGo cadets together. The provider also reports a programme completion rate exceeding 90%.
43 Air School reports operating more than 70 aircraft and employing more than 75 instructors at its South African training operation.
