UAE – Intercontinental Aviation Academy (FlyIAA) has taken handover of a new training hangar at its Al Ain operation in Abu Dhabi and received the first Diamond DA40 for its UAE fleet, beginning a planned build-up to ten aircraft by early 2027.

  • The further nine are scheduled to arrive at approximately one aircraft per month over the coming months.
  • The new hangar is located at a private airstrip in Al Ain and will serve as the operational base for FlyIAA’s expanding UAE flight-training activity. The academy described the event as a soft opening ahead of further UAE project announcements.
  • AFM previously reported in November 2025 that FlyIAA had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates Falcon Air Strip to establish an Al Ain operational base. The original plan targeted operations from February 2026 alongside the arrival of new Diamond training aircraft.
  • FlyIAA parent Intercontinental Aviation Enterprise announced an agreement with Diamond Aircraft in November 2025 covering eight new DA40 NGs and two DA42-VIs for deployment across its international network. Initial deliveries under that arrangement were originally planned from the second quarter of 2026.
  • The group has also invested in synthetic training aligned with the Diamond fleet. AFM reported in April 2026 that FlyIAA acquired an ALSIM AL40/42 device capable of switching between DA40 and DA42 cockpit configurations for single- and multi-engine training.
  • FlyIAA launched its UAE training operation in September 2025 and subsequently identified Al Ain as part of its national training infrastructure expansion.

Statements

  • “For months, much of our work has happened beyond the public eye. Plans became agreements. Agreements became long days of implementation. Today, we reveal one of those plans. This is a clear expression of our commitment to the UAE aviation industry — we are investing in the facilities, aircraft and people needed to build real training capacity here, and we intend to give that ambition substance, step by step,” said Capt. Wissam Al Mehyou, Global Chairman of FlyIAA and Founder and CEO of Intercontinental Aviation Enterprise.
