Korean Air Finalizes US$36.2 Billion Order for 103 Boeing Aircraft Across 737, 777X, and 787 Families

South Korea – South Korean flag carrier Korean Air has finalized a firm order with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing for 103 aircraft spanning the 737 MAX, 777X, and 787 families, completing a procurement commitment first announced in August 2025.

• The US$36.2 billion aircraft contract covers:
  • 50 Boeing 737-10s;
  • 25 787-10s;
  • 20 777-9s; and
  • 8 777-8 Freighters.
• Korean Air separately finalized approximately US$8.6 billion of spare-engine purchases and engine maintenance services, taking the wider US procurement package to US$44.8 billion.
• The 103-aircraft order fulfills the commitment announced on 25 August 2025 and is additional to Korean Air's March 2025 order for 20 777-9s and 20 787-10s. Boeing said at the time of the 2025 commitment that the transaction would become Korean Air's largest aircraft order once finalized.
• Korean Air reported in May 2026 that its Incheon flight training center operates 12 full-flight simulators 24 hours a day to support more than 3,000 pilots. The facility normally runs five four-hour simulator sessions per day and supports aircraft conversion training alongside recurrent training conducted at least every six months.
• Korean Air also stated in May 2026 that its operating manuals and pilot training and assessment procedures had already been integrated with those of Asiana Airlines as part of preparations for the combined carrier. The airline said standardized operating procedures and cockpit callouts had been established across the two organizations.
