Netherlands-based SimFlying Secures ATO Approval for Airbus A320 APS MCC Training

Netherlands – Aalsmeer-based simulator training provider SimFlying has received Approved Training Organisation certification from the Netherlands’ Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport (ILT) to deliver Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation training, while its Airbus A320 simulator has been qualified as an FNPT II MCC. SimFlying has already started its first APS MCC class, adding another approved provider of airline-preparation training capacity in the Dutch market.

• SimFlying’s APS MCC includes 40 hours of Airbus A320 simulator training, delivered through 10 simulator sessions of approximately four hours each. The simulator is now qualified as an FNPT II MCC under reference NL-271.
• The course combines two to four weeks of self-study, approximately 25 hours of ground school over 3.5 days and the 40-hour simulator phase. SimFlying states that the practical ground-school and simulator elements can be completed in approximately three weeks following the preparatory phase.
• SimFlying developed its own online learning environment for the programme, covering Airbus A320 systems, cockpit procedures, airline SOPs, CRM, threat and error management and preparation for simulator sessions. Participants must achieve a minimum 75% score on the preparatory assessment before progressing through the course.
• The first APS MCC class began in August 2026. SimFlying’s current schedule lists further starts on September 14 and November 9, with classes capped at four students and new groups planned monthly subject to enrolment.
• Training is delivered by instructors holding qualifications including MCCI, TRI and SFI privileges who also maintain active airline flying roles, according to SimFlying. Jelle Visser is listed as Head of Training, Maarten van Walt Meijer as Lead Instructor and Safety Manager, and Toby Enzerink as Accountable Manager.
• The A320 device entered SimFlying’s operation in 2024 and incorporates a full-scale fixed cockpit, force-feedback controls, functional circuit breakers and oxygen masks, together with a 4K visual system. It is now the company’s regulatory-qualified device for APS MCC delivery.
• SimFlying also operates a full-scale fixed-base Boeing 737-800NG simulator at Aalsmeer, giving the centre two airliner cockpit training platforms. The Boeing device continues to be used for activities including airline assessment preparation and simulator sessions.
• SimFlying stated that the certification process included development of the approved training programme, operating procedures and documentation, instructor training and simulator work. Skalarki Electronics supplied simulator hardware, ProSim Training Solutions provides simulation software and FTD Consulting supported the organisation during the certification process.
• AFM previously reported that SimFlying opened its Boeing 737 simulator at its newly established Aalsmeer facility in July 2023, initially positioning the device for flight-experience activity as well as professional grading and airline-assessment preparation. The new ATO certification marks the organisation’s progression from simulator and assessment services into approved EASA pilot training.
