Finland – Finnish flag carrier Finnair and state-owned Finnish Aviation Academy have opened a joint application window from August 3 to 28, 2026, for a 22-month Multi-Crew Pilot Licence program delivered with Center Air Pilot Academy in Roskilde and Finnair Flight Academy in Vantaa. The Euro 60,000 pathway includes an Airbus A320 type rating and gives graduates five-year priority for Finnair A320 co-pilot recruitment, creating a structured source of new flight crew for the airline’s 29-aircraft A320-family fleet.

The program lasts approximately 22 months, with the first 18 to 20 months conducted at Center Air Pilot Academy in Roskilde, Denmark. The final phase will use an A320 simulator at Finnair Flight Academy in Vantaa, Finland.
The student fee is Euro 60,000. Finnair states that Euro 37,500 is payable in three instalments during training, with the remaining Euro 22,500 payable after the graduate is employed by Finnair. Students are responsible for accommodation costs in Denmark and Finland, while Finnair will arrange travel to Denmark at the start of the overseas phase and the return journey at its conclusion.
Training begins with ATPL theoretical studies and approximately six months of basic and instrument flight instruction before progressing to type-representative, two-pilot simulator training. The course concludes with six landings in an operational A320 aircraft, after which successful students receive an MPL and A320 type rating.
Graduates receive priority for five years when Finnair recruits A320-family co-pilots. Finnair states that the timing of employment depends on its operational requirements, meaning completion of the program does not constitute an immediate or unconditional employment guarantee.
Applicants must possess the following:
- At least 18 years old and minimum 163 cm tall.
- Degree from an upper secondary school or completed vocational upper secondary qualification of at least three years (180 ECTS credits, 120 in the former credit system).
- Good language skills in Finnish and English.
- Fulfilling the medical criteria defined by Finnair
- Passing a concise security clearance by the Finnish police.
No previous aviation experience is required. The selection process includes the application stage, aptitude assessments and interviews, with Selex Oy providing selection services for both the Finnair MPL and Finnish Aviation Academy pathways.
Finnish Aviation Academy’s joint application also covers its integrated aeroplane ATPL(A) and helicopter CPL(H) programmes. Candidates selected for aeroplane training can subsequently express interest in the academy’s ATPL pathway, Finnair’s MPL programme or both, with the two organisations making the final programme allocations.
Center Air operates a fleet of seven-aircraft comprising five Tecnam P-Mentors and two P2006T MkII twin-engine aircraft, supported by four FNPT II devices, including A320 and Boeing 737-representative simulators.
AFM previously reported that Center Air ordered a further 10 Tecnam P-Mentors and one P2006T NG in April 2026 and subsequently received two aircraft during June, expanding the Roskilde academy’s capacity.
