India – Simaero has outlined the next stages of its Indian expansion, targeting a full utilisation of its eight-bay Gurugram pilot training center over the next five to seven years before potentially establishing additional simulator facilities elsewhere in the country. The France-headquartered training group is currently awaiting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s final audit of its first Airbus A320neo full flight simulator and the associated training facility.

  • Seven simulator bays remain available at the Gurugram facility following installation of its first A320neo FFS. Simaero expects to fill those positions over five to seven years, with the timing of its second simulator dependent on certification of the initial device.
  • Simaero expects to consider a second Indian training center once four simulators are operating at Gurugram and utilisation supports further expansion. Mumbai and Bengaluru are among the locations under consideration, while the company has identified Kolkata as a potential location for a three- or four-bay facility serving eastern India.
  • The company said it has held discussions with major Indian airlines while also receiving training interest from operators in Nepal, Bhutan and Central Asia, supporting its strategy of using India as a regional simulator training hub.
  • Simaero is also preparing its Indian operation for competency-based training and assessment (CBTA), with the group targeting completion of its own CBTA transition by the end of 2026.
  • Its Indian offering is planned to include dry simulator leasing, wet leasing with instructors and arrangements combining airline procedures with Simaero instructors and course material.
