Germany – Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH (REISER) has demonstrated its 11-ft Mothership in full motion, highlighting the common platform at the centre of its modular Full Flight Simulator concept. The architecture allows training centres to operate multiple aircraft-specific cockpit modules on one motion, visual and audio platform, potentially adding aircraft types without requiring a separate complete simulator installation for each configuration.
- REISER states that its Roll-On/Roll-Off cockpit architecture allows a functional cockpit to be exchanged in less than two hours. The approach separates the aircraft-specific cockpit from the wider simulator infrastructure, enabling several helicopter configurations to share the same Mothership.
- The Mothership integrates motion, vibration, visual and audio simulation into the common platform. Aircraft-specific cockpit modules are then installed according to the required training configuration, allowing training providers to adapt the device to changes in fleet composition without immediately adding another simulator bay.
- REISER currently identifies Airbus H125, H135, H145 and H145M and Leonardo AW139 and AW169 cockpits among the configurations that can be used within its Full Flight Simulator architecture. Cockpits can use replicated equipment, original aircraft equipment or a combination depending on the configuration and customer requirement.
- The modular concept is already in operational use. AFM previously reported that Swiss Air-Rescue Rega introduced a REISER Mothership in Switzerland with interchangeable Airbus H145, Leonardo AW169 and Airbus H125 cockpit modules, allowing different helicopter types to use the same underlying simulator installation.
- REISER is also applying the Roll-On/Roll-Off architecture to new projects. AFM reported in March 2026 that an H135/H145 Level D Full Flight Simulator under production for European Heli Center is being configured around the same modular platform, allowing the two Airbus helicopter types to be trained on one simulator system.
- From a training-centre perspective, the architecture is intended to increase utilisation of the higher-cost common simulator infrastructure. Operators can add or replace aircraft-specific cockpit modules while retaining the motion and visual system, creating a route to broaden type-rating, recurrent and mission-training capability without duplicating every component of a Full Flight Simulator.
- REISER's Level D Full Flight Simulator specification includes a 240-degree horizontal by 80-degree vertical field of view, two-channel high-definition LED projection, an onboard Instructor Operating Station and briefing/debriefing capability. The platform can also support rear-cabin mission training, including a mixed-reality third crew-member station for activities such as helicopter hoist operations.
