Oman – SalamAir has confirmed that Yaqoob Al Kiyumi formally assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer on October 1, 2026, taking leadership of the Omani low-cost carrier as it continues expanding its fleet and international network.
- Al Kiyumi joins SalamAir with nearly 29 years of leadership and management experience spanning the energy, utilities, manufacturing and oil and gas sectors. Before joining the airline, he served as Energy Advisor at Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Advisor to the Group CEO of Nama Holding and CEO of Oman Power & Water Procurement Company.
- SalamAir currently operates 18 Airbus A320neo-family aircraft, serves more than 40 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe and operates more than 90 daily flights.
- The airline states that it remains on track to expand its fleet to 25 aircraft by 2028, supporting additional destinations and higher frequencies across existing routes.
- Al Kiyumi succeeds Adrian Hamilton-Manns, whose tenure concluded ahead of the October leadership transition. SalamAir’s board thanked Hamilton-Manns for his contribution when it announced Al Kiyumi’s appointment in August.
- Al Kiyumi’s previous executive experience includes roles with Sohar Aluminium, OXY Oman and Petroleum Development Oman in addition to his public-sector and utility-sector positions.
- He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Coventry University and a postgraduate diploma from the University of Hull and is a graduate of Oman’s National CEO Program.
