United Kingdom – Norwich-based aviation services and flight training provider Saxon Air has won Aviation Company of the Year and the Sustainability & Environmental Award at the Aviation Industry Awards UK 2026, following a year that included expansion of its flight training, helicopter and electric aviation activities.
- Saxon Air received the two awards in September 2026, with the Sustainability & Environmental category recognising its Solar Plane Port and SKYCHARGE infrastructure at Norwich Airport.
- The SKYCHARGE project, completed in December 2025, incorporates a 50 kWh battery energy storage system that stores electricity generated by Saxon Air’s solar infrastructure for later use, including charging its Pipistrel Velis Electro training aircraft.
- Saxon Air operates a flight training center at Norwich Airport offering Private Pilot Licence training, Night Rating, IR(R), differences training and hour-building. Its current published training fleet comprises four Diamond DA40s, two Pipistrel Explorer aircraft and two Pipistrel Velis Electro aircraft.
