South Africa – 43 Air School has opened recruitment for a Flight Leader at its Port Alfred operation, seeking an experienced Grade I or Grade II flight instructor to supervise and mentor instructors within its expanding training organisation.
- Applicants must hold the following:
- a Grade I or Grade II Instructor Rating
- at least 1,500 hours pilot-in-command experience
- two years and at least 1,000 hours of structured full-time flight training experience
- fluent in English (written and spoken)
- South African citizen or holds a current and valid South African work visa
- 43 Air School is offering an R80,000 conditional bonus for the successful candidate, subject to terms and conditions. A base salary or wider remuneration package was not disclosed.
- Applications close on August 31, 2026 and must include an updated CV showing type ratings, total instructional hours and total flight time, together with licence, logbook and endorsement information and a letter of motivation.
- The Flight Leader position is intended to provide instructional leadership and mentoring within the school's flight training team.

- AFM previously reported in March 2026 that 43 Air School was undertaking a 40% capacity expansion at Port Alfred, including growth of the aircraft fleet to 70 aircraft, commissioning of two additional simulators including an ALSIM ALX and recruitment and training of 30 additional flight instructors, which was expected to take the ab-initio instructor team to approximately 75.
- The same expansion included an additional runway, taking the campus to six runways, 2,000 square metres of additional aircraft maintenance workspace and 60 additional student accommodation rooms.
