California, USA – Southern California pilot-training provider CFII has signed a contract with SoftekSim for an Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) based on the simulator manufacturer's Tecnam P-Mentor platform. Scheduled for delivery in January 2027, the device will expand CFII's ground-based training capacity alongside its fleet of P-Mentor training aircraft.
- CFII operates training activity across Southern California, including Long Beach, Corona and Riverside, and offers a career-training pathway covering Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot and flight instructor qualifications.
- The simulator will complement CFII's P-Mentor aircraft operation. CFII describes the P-Mentor as the backbone of its fleet and reports operating 10 new training aircraft. The organisation also identifies the Tecnam P2008 as the next type planned for the fleet.
- CFII's published P-Mentor configuration uses dual Garmin GDU 460 displays, a GI 275 standby instrument, GFC 500 autopilot, GNC 255A nav/com and GTX 345R ADS-B equipment. This creates the potential for simulator sessions to support familiarisation and procedures on a platform aligned with aircraft used for CFII's flight training.
- AFM previously reported that SoftekSim expanded its general aviation product range in 2022 with an NXi glass-cockpit trainer designed to meet FAA AATD requirements, with a first US installation planned at the time. AFM
- SoftekSim's P-Mentor simulator platform is offered with FAA AATD and EASA FNPT II certification capability and is designed as a full-cabin P-Mentor replica for PPL, CPL and instrument training. SoftekSim lists a wide-angle visual system, IFR capability and customer-specific configuration among the platform's features.
