Spain – Spanish aviation training organisation FTEJerez has commenced a new round of Full Rating air traffic controller (ATC) courses for candidates selected by ENAIRE, Spain's national air navigation service provider. The training supports the preparation of new controllers for subsequent unit-specific training and deployment within Spain's air traffic management system.
- A total of 46 students began three Full Rating courses during the week of October 12, 2026, across FTEJerez's ATC training centres in Jerez, Madrid and Barcelona, having successfully completed ENAIRE's latest selection process.
- FTEJerez previously outlined an ATC training schedule comprising more than 120 students across 12 courses during 2026, covering domestic and international customers. The October intake forms part of this wider training activity.
- The new courses follow three Full Rating courses launched simultaneously across the same locations on July 20, 2026, and an Integrated ATC course that commenced in Jerez on August 24. A further Integrated ATC course is scheduled to begin in Jerez on November 4.
- The training prepares ENAIRE-selected candidates to obtain the initial qualifications required before progressing to operational unit training at the air navigation service provider's facilities.
- FTEJerez's Full Rating curriculum combines Aerodrome Control (ADC) with Surveillance (SUR), Approach Control by Procedures (APP), Approach Control Surveillance (APS), Area Control by Procedures (ACP) and Area Control Surveillance (ACS). The training incorporates tower and radar simulation, familiarisation with Spain's SACTA air traffic control system and preparation for subsequent ENAIRE unit training.
- AFM previously reported that FTEJerez expanded its ATC training infrastructure with new centres in Madrid and Barcelona in 2025, alongside upgrades to its Jerez campus. The Madrid facility provides approximately 500 square metres of training space, while the Barcelona centre covers approximately 600 square metres, with both supporting simulator-based controller instruction.
