Spain – Helicopter operator and Approved Training Organisation Pegasus Aero Group is adding new Robinson R44 Cadet helicopters to its pilot training fleet at Aeródromo Sebastián Almagro in Palma del Río, Córdoba.

Pegasus forecasts that it will need to recruit more than 100 helicopter pilots during the next five years, which would take its active pilot workforce to approximately 300.
Pegasus said demand is being driven by requirements for qualified helicopter pilots across firefighting, aeromedical emergency services, search and rescue, civil protection and offshore operations in Europe. The group operates these types of specialist aviation services itself, giving the training expansion a direct internal recruitment component.
The school has opened selection for a new student intake scheduled to begin in October 2026. Its published integrated CPL(H) program runs for approximately 14–16 months and includes 350 hours of theory, 110 hours of aircraft flying and 25 hours in an FNPT II simulator. Pegasus also offers integrated ATPL/IR(H) and CPL/IR(H) pathways from its Palma del Río operation.
Pegasus Aviación holds AESA approval E-ATO-107.
The company's synthetic training infrastructure includes an FNPT II at Palma del Río and a Bell 412 Level B Full Flight Simulator at its Seville simulation operation. Pegasus said these devices support basic through advanced training alongside its expanding aircraft fleet.
Pegasus states that its flight instructors also remain active in operational flying and log more than 300 flight hours annually in operational environments. The company positions this instructor model as a way of linking ab-initio training with the emergency and aerial-work missions for which it expects to recruit future graduates.
The R44 Cadet is a two-seat training derivative of the R44, using the same airframe, rotor system and Lycoming O-540 engine as the R44 Raven I but with a reduced 2,200 lb maximum gross weight and derated engine output. Pegasus specifies its new aircraft with glass cockpits and air conditioning.
