Nevada, USA – Flight simulator manufacturer TRU Simulation will make the show debut of its Cessna Skyhawk-configured Veris Virtual Reality Flight Training Device at NBAA-BACE 2026 in Las Vegas. The Skyhawk configuration is designed to meet FAA Level 7 FTD standards and, upon qualification, will expand the Veris platform into fixed-wing flight training.
- NBAA-BACE will run from October 20–22, 2026 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Henderson Executive Airport, with TRU planning live demonstrations of the Skyhawk Veris at booth 3415.
- The device uses a dual-seat configuration that allows training from either the left or right seat, enabling instructors and students to train together. TRU states that the configuration is intended to accommodate training credit across licensing phases from Private Pilot through Flight Instructor once regulatory requirements are met.
- The cockpit replicates Cessna Skyhawk instrumentation and controls and incorporates Garmin G1000 NXi avionics. Training can be conducted with or without the VR headset, allowing the physical cockpit and avionics to also be used for procedural and systems familiarisation.
- AFM previously reported that US Aviation Academy became the launch customer for the fixed-wing Veris in October 2025, ordering five Cessna Skyhawk-configured devices for its Denton, Texas operation with options for ten additional units.
- The wider Veris platform uses a fully electric six-degree-of-freedom motion system, digital electric control loading, a Varjo VR/MR headset and TRU's image generation system powered by Unreal Engine. TRU lists the simulator footprint at approximately 2.23 m × 2.09 m × 2.21 m.
Statements
- “The Cessna Skyhawk Veris was designed with intentionality to support a realistic flight training experience, including a dual-seat configuration that allows instructors and students to train together on the device,” said Jerry Messaris, President and CEO at TRU Simulation.
