Vietnam – Aviation Training Centre Asia (ATCA) has appointed Andrew Packer as Chief Executive Officer. Packer will lead an organization delivering Airbus A320 type-rating, multi-crew, instructor and recurrent training through a regional network centered on simulator operations in Ho Chi Minh City and ground training in Manila.
- ATCA currently lists six pilot training programs and reports more than 505 pilots trained. Its published course portfolio includes an 11-day EASA MCC course, 43-day EASA A320 Type Rating, 12-day EASA A320 TRI/SFI course, one-day Airbus instructor refresher, type-rating renewal and revalidation, and EASA licence conversion.
- ATCA was founded in 2023 by two Asia-based senior airline training captains with more than 60 years of combined training experience. The company currently lists offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Manila and Hong Kong, alongside regional training activity in Singapore, Bangkok, Changsha and Taipei.
- ATCA states that EASA is its primary regulatory approval framework for MCC, A320 type-rating, instructor and licence-renewal training. It also states that it holds UK CAA approval for A320 type-rating renewals and revalidations at its Bangkok regional facility.
- ATCA identifies its Ho Chi Minh City simulator infrastructure as including A320 Level D full-flight simulator and fixed-base capability. The Level D FFS is used for the full-flight simulator phase of A320 type-rating training, while the fixed-base device supports procedure and APS MCC training.
