Australia – Blue Room Simulations, in collaboration with Airbus Helicopters, has launched a new Airbus H175 Mixed Reality (MR) Aeromedical Simulator module. This advanced simulation environment is designed for aeromedical and search and rescue (SAR) operations, offering hands-on, immersive training with real equipment, without the need for live aircraft.
- The H175 MR module was co-developed with Airbus Helicopters and tailored specifically for H175 aircraft customers in Australia and globally
- Built to address the unique operational challenges of Australian aeromedical missions, including long-distance evacuations, coastal SAR, and inter-agency coordination
- Offers team-based scenario training that improves procedural standardisation, enhances patient safety, and enables readiness for complex, low-frequency emergencies
- Training can be conducted on demand, requiring zero aircraft hours, thus reducing operational disruptions and enhancing cost-efficiency
- Supports inter-agency interoperability through shared task playbooks for joint operations with emergency, military, and maritime partners
Key Features of the Module:
- Cabin design accurately reflects H175 aeromedical configurations
- Real-time interaction with physical clinical devices (e.g., monitors, defibrillators, ventilators, suction units, oxygen, POCUS) within the MR environment
- Full mission workflow simulation including pre-flight, scene response, hoist operations, patient care in transit, and hospital handover
- Integrated instructor tools for mission control, performance tracking, and after-action review with timestamped metrics
- Localised content to mirror Australian equipment standards, documentation, and clinical protocols
