Switzerland – EASA Approved Training Organisation AELO Swiss Academy is quickly training another batch of 19 student pilots' which started their training in April 2026 with the students currently completing theoretical training ahead of their first flights.
- AELO’s Integrated ATPL programme includes approximately 1,000 hours of classroom instruction and 220 flight-training hours, with the academy marketing an approximately 18-month training pathway.
- AELO has continued to expand training resources alongside the student intakes. AFM reported in August that the academy had phased in 10 additional aircraft since January 2026 — two Tecnam P2008s, three Diamond DA20s, four DA40s and one DA42 — increasing its total training fleet to 34 aircraft.
- The academy recorded 8,421 commercial flight hours during the first seven months of 2026, almost 50% more than during the comparable 2025 period, including 1,573 hours in July alone. AELO has also recruited additional VFR and IFR instructors to support the increased activity.
- AFM previously reported that six Swiss International Air Lines cadets also commenced training at Locarno in August 2026, marking the operational start of AELO’s role as the first independent ATO designated as a SWISS partner flight school.
