Switzerland – AELO Swiss Academy, a Swiss Approved Training Organisation (ATO) based at Locarno Airport, has published further details of its 18-month EASA Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) program, including course pricing, admission requirements and graduate employment outcomes. The academy is promoting its existing training pathway to prospective airline pilots, supported by its expanding aircraft fleet and training infrastructure.
- The Integrated ATPL program is priced at €104,950 (approximately US$117,900), covering 18 months of accommodation, flight training, simulator instruction, equipment, transport, specified insurance coverage and examination fees. The package includes fees for one attempt at each of the 13 EASA ATPL theoretical knowledge examinations.
- AELO reports a 96% graduate placement rate, stating that most graduates secure pilot employment within six months of completing their training.
- The academy advertises eight annual intake months at Locarno: February, March, April, May, July, September, October and November. Its admission process includes CV assessment, an online application, AON aptitude assessments, a personal interview and a medical examination. Previous flying experience is not required.
- AFM previously reported that AELO Swiss Academy enrolled more than 150 ATPL students during 2026, following a two-year expansion of its training infrastructure, aircraft fleet and airline-linked activities. The academy's fleet reached 34 aircraft during the year, with additional Diamond DA20 deliveries planned through the first quarter of 2027.
- AELO's training syllabus comprises approximately 1,000 hours of theoretical instruction and a 220-hour practical training allocation encompassing aircraft and simulator sessions. The package includes 40 hours of Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation (APS MCC) training on a Boeing 737NG simulator, multi-engine instruction using Diamond DA42 aircraft, and Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (AUPRT) using an Extra 200 aircraft.
Statements
- “The Integrated ATPL Program is built to reflect the realities of modern airline operations. Candidates progress from their first hours in the cockpit through to advanced simulator sessions on aircraft types they are likely to fly in their careers. The emphasis throughout is on producing pilots who are ready to step into an airline environment,” said Jaime Ordovas, Business Development Director at AELO Swiss Academy.
- "The selection process is designed to identify candidates with the aptitude and commitment that airline careers require. From the application stage onward, the focus is on supporting each student through a demanding but structured journey toward certification and employment," said Ordovas.
