Switzerland – EASA Approved Training Organisation AELO Swiss Academy, operated by Aero Locarno, recorded 2,283 flight hours across its fleet during August 2026, an increase of 101.5% compared with August 2025.

  • AELO recorded 2,283 flight hours in August 2026, up 101.5% year-on-year. The reported percentage implies approximately 1,133 flight hours in August 2025, representing an increase of around 1,150 hours over the comparable month.
  • August activity was also 710 hours higher than July 2026, when AELO recorded 1,573 flight hours, equivalent to a month-on-month increase of approximately 45%.
  • AELO had previously reported 8,421 commercial flight hours during January-July 2026, almost 50% more than during the comparable 2025 period. On the same reporting basis, adding August would bring reported flight activity for the first eight months of 2026 to 10,704 hours.
  • The increase follows a fleet expansion during 2026. Since January, AELO has phased in 10 additional aircraft comprising two Tecnam P2008s, three Diamond DA20s, four Diamond DA40s and one Diamond DA42, bringing its reported training fleet to 34 aircraft. Additional VFR and IFR instructors were also recruited to support the increased flying activity.
  • The August result continues a pattern of increasing aircraft utilization: AELO reported that July's 1,573 flight hours were almost 90% higher than July 2025, before the academy exceeded 2,000 hours in a single month during August.
