Switzerland – AELO Swiss Academy has welcomed the first six Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) cadets to its Locarno training base in August 2026 as part of its cooperation with the Lufthansa Group carrier.

  • AELO is the first independent Approved Training Organisation to become a “Partnerflugschule der SWISS”, or SWISS partner flight school.
  • AELO operates from Locarno Airport under Swiss ATO approval CH.ATO.0311 and offers integrated airline pilot training.
  • The academy operates a fleet of 27 training aircraft comprised of Diamond DA20, DA40 and DA42 platforms, with 12 new DA20 aircraft scheduled for delivery during 2026 and options for another six in 2027.
  • The cadets will train from AELO’s 2,000-square-metre Locarno campus, which opened in October 2025 following an investment of approximately €5 million and includes classrooms, briefing areas, simulator space, a hangar and student accommodation.
