Netherlands – Austrian pilot training provider AeronautX, part of AX Aero Group, has announced plans to open a business aviation training centre in Amsterdam in the first quarter of 2027, alongside a strategic training partnership with VistaJet. The facility will establish an additional European training location for business jet operators and pilots.

  • The centre will initially support training for the Bombardier Challenger 350 and Challenger 650 aircraft, with additional aircraft types planned for future introduction.
  • Under the strategic partnership, VistaJet will use the Amsterdam facility to support its Challenger pilot training requirements. AeronautX will continue operating independently, providing simulator access and training services to other business aviation operators.
  • The training portfolio will include initial type ratings through base training, recurrent training, Type Rating Instructor (TRI) qualifications and operator-specific courses. Programs will be tailored to individual operator requirements, with instruction delivered by pilots holding operational experience on the relevant aircraft types.
  • The facility is located at Bromostraat 37 in Amsterdam, near Schiphol Airport. AeronautX plans to provide registered trainees with 24-hour access to ground school facilities and training resources.
  • AeronautX will also offer dry-lease simulator bookings, allowing operators to use their own instructors and incorporate simulator sessions into their training programs. Booking arrangements provide an initial four-hour simulator block, with additional two-hour sessions available. External instructors must complete a one-hour AeronautX training course and receive formal sign-off.
  • The planned training infrastructure includes Level D full-flight simulators, tablet-based cockpit procedures and aircraft systems familiarisation trainers, and an AI-supported debriefing platform. AeronautX states that its training approach incorporates Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) and Evidence-Based Training (EBT) methodologies.
  • AFM previously reported that AeronautX became part of the Zurich-based AX Aero Group in April 2026, joining a portfolio of six aviation businesses covering pilot training, simulation, aircraft operations and technology.

Statements

  • “By combining innovation with real world operational expertise and a highly personalised approach, AeronautX is redefining what operators and pilots should expect from a training provider. VistaJet has built its reputation around exceptionally high standards of safety, service and operational consistency, making it a natural strategic partner for AeronautX. Our partnership with VistaJet demonstrates the flexible model we are building in Amsterdam: supporting the specific requirements of leading global operators while remaining an independent training provider serving operators of all sizes,” said Jörg Oberhofer, Founder and CEO of AeronautX.
  • “High-quality and consistent pilot training is fundamental to our operation. Our partnership with AeronautX gives us access to the latest simulation technology and a modern, purpose-built training environment in Amsterdam, supporting the continued development of our own Challenger pilot training programme. We look forward to a successful partnership with AeronautX in Amsterdam,” said Nick van der Meer, Chief Operating Officer at Vista.
  • "Our goal at AeronautX is to deliver training within a trusted, relationship-driven environment. We believe exceptional training comes from combining advanced technology with a frictionless and exceptional learning experience. For decades, pilot training has been dominated by large, standardised providers. It is time for a new approach," said Niall Olver, Chairman, AX Aero Group.
