About AFM
AFM is a specialist news, research and market intelligence platform focused on the global pilot training industry.

We monitor developments across flight schools, airline cadet programs, simulator training centers, training equipment manufacturers, aviation regulators, airlines, investors and other organizations active in pilot training.

Our audience includes senior executives, training managers, investors, equipment manufacturers, flight school owners, airline representatives and other professionals working across the global aviation training sector.

We are now looking for an Editor & Newsletter Lead to take ownership of our daily news workflow, editorial standards and newsletter development.

The role
This is a hands-on role for someone who can combine editorial judgment, structured research, content production and newsletter optimization.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying relevant industry developments, leading the process of preparation of AFM news articles, reviewing and publishing content, and managing the company’s newsletters.

AFM operates a high-volume, source-led publishing model. Our coverage draws on company announcements, regulatory publications, social media, industry publications, local news sources, AFM’s historical database and direct engagement with industry participants.

The role is not focused on traditional long-form journalism. It requires the ability to identify what matters to a specialist B2B audience, verify information, use digital tools effectively, apply appropriate source attribution and publish concise, commercially relevant industry coverage.

The successful candidate will initially work closely with AFM’s leadership and research analyst, with the objective of taking full operational ownership of AFM’s news and newsletter activities.

  • Ensure that every article is factually accurate, properly sourced and relevant to the pilot training industry.
  • Apply clear and consistent source attribution.
  • Identify unsupported claims, marketing language, factual inconsistencies and information requiring further verification.
  • Add relevant context using AFM’s historical coverage and industry knowledge.
  • Maintain consistent editorial standards, terminology, structure and tone.
  • Manage corrections and updates when required.
  • Develop a pipeline of original interviews, market updates and research-led content.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for AFM’s newsletter strategy, production and performance.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Select and prioritize content for AFM’s weekly and future segmented newsletters.
  • Prepare newsletter headlines, summaries, subject lines and preview text.

  • Improve newsletter structure, readability and content sequencing.
  • Analyze open rates, click-through rates, subscriber engagement and content performance.

  • Develop audience segmentation based on geography, organization type, interests and engagement.
  • Improve subscriber retention and re-engage inactive readers.
  • Support the conversion of free readers into premium subscribers.
  • Improve the value delivered to newsletter advertisers and sponsors.
  • Produce regular reports on newsletter performance and recommended improvements.

  • Strong understanding of newsletter analytics, segmentation and audience engagement.
  • Experience working with a high volume of short-form business content.
  • The ability to work independently and make publishing decisions.
  • Ambition, passion and drive to take ownership of this role on a long-term basis
  • Strong editorial judgment.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Experience in aviation, pilot training, flight simulation would be beneficial but is not essential.
