Airbus Asia Training Centre to Introduce ALSIM Airliner for MPL Phase 2 Training in Singapore

Singapore – Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC), the 55%-Airbus and 45%-Singapore Airlines joint venture, has selected an ALSIM Airliner FNPT II MCC simulator under a new training services agreement supporting Singapore Flying College’s Multi-Crew Pilot Licence cadet program. The device has been developed with AATC over more than a year and is scheduled to become operational in early 2027, subject to the applicable Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) approvals. The investment adds a dedicated MPL Phase 2 training device to the Singapore Airlines Group’s cadet training pathway before pilots progress into later, type-specific training phases.

• The simulator will directly support ab-initio courses for Singapore Flying College, specifically its MPL cadet training program. Singapore Airlines currently states that its cadet pilots train toward either an ATPL with Instrument Rating or an MPL through Singapore Flying College in Singapore and overseas.
• The Airliner is an FNPT II MCC platform that can be reconfigured between a generic fly-by-wire cockpit with sidestick controls and a conventional flight-control configuration using control yokes. ALSIM markets the device for MCC, APS MCC and MPL Phase 2 training.
• Development work undertaken with AATC included MPL Phase 2 capability, a new Instructor Operating Station and additional software functions for training-session management and competency-based instruction. ALSIM said several of the developments created through the AATC project will subsequently become standard Airliner features.
• The device incorporates a collimated visual system with a published 200-degree horizontal by 40-degree vertical field of view, designed to provide both pilots with the same visual image during multi-crew training.
• Airbus’ September 1, 2026 disclosure describes AATC as a 10-bay FFS facility and identifies nine currently installed FFSs: four A350, two A320, one A330, one A380 and one ATR 72-600, alongside six fixed cockpit training devices.
• AFM previously reported that AATC is also scheduled to add a CAE 7000XR A220 FFS in Q4 2027 through Flight Training Alliance, the CAE and Lufthansa Aviation Training joint venture. The A220 deployment addresses aircraft type-rating and recurrent training, while the ALSIM Airliner is being introduced specifically for earlier-stage MPL training.
