Airbus Asia Training Centre Welcomes South Korea's Jin Air as 97th Customer

October 12, 2026

Singapore & South Korea – Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC), the Singapore-based flight simulator training joint venture between Airbus and Singapore Airlines, has welcomed South Korean low-cost carrier Jin Air as a customer for Airbus A320 type rating training.

  • Jin Air becomes AATC's 97th customer, according to the training centre's October 2026 announcement, extending its portfolio of airline training customers across Asia-Pacific.
  • The training arrangement comes as Jin Air transitions from its historically Boeing-focused fleet toward Airbus A320-family operations. In 2026, the airline began incorporating Airbus A321 aircraft, including an A321-200 previously operated by Asiana Airlines, alongside plans to introduce additional A321neo aircraft.
  • Jin Air signed an agreement in August 2026 to merge with Air Busan and Air Seoul, targeting the launch of an integrated low-cost airline under the Jin Air brand on 17 March 2027. The integration will consolidate Airbus and Boeing operations, creating additional flight crew training and fleet standardisation requirements.
  • Jin Air has also been investing in domestic simulator capacity, having introduced an A320neo full flight simulator in May 2026 and outlined plans to operate two FFS devices and one flight training device.
  • Airbus' September 2026 disclosure identified nine installed FFS devices at AATC, comprising two A320, one A330, four A350, one A380 and one ATR 72-600 simulator, alongside six fixed cockpit training devices.
