USA – The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a contract worth $173 million for the production of eight additional MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters, bringing the total number under contract to 34. The deal also includes comprehensive training and sustainment support services, marking continued progress toward the platform’s full operational deployment.
- The MH-139A helicopters are intended for national security missions including Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) field security, search and rescue, and transport operations.
- This latest order follows a $178 million contract in April 2025 for seven aircraft and includes the first aircraft designated for Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota.
- Boeing has delivered 18 aircraft to date, including 12 low-rate initial production (LRIP) units, and has completed delivery to the first operational unit at Malmstrom AFB, Montana.
- Initial Operational Test & Evaluation flights have concluded successfully, moving the program closer to Initial Operational Capability (IOC).
- The MH-139A is based on the Leonardo AW139 platform and is adapted by Boeing for military use, integrating customized systems to meet U.S. Air Force requirements.
