Aircraft Manufacturer Set to Double Widebody Production with USD 1 Billion Investment

October 30, 2025

USA – Boeing has announced plans to expand production capacity at its North Charleston facility with a US$1 billion investment, targeting a ramp-up to 14 787 Dreamliners per month within the next few years. The announcement, made alongside the company’s Q3 2025 results, represents a full return to pre-pandemic production rates and underscores Boeing’s confidence in the long-term widebody market recovery.

  • The North Charleston site currently produces seven 787 Dreamliners per month and is expected to reach eight aircraft monthly by the end of 2025, serving as an interim milestone toward the 14-per-month goal.
  • Boeing’s planned $1 billion expansion will add manufacturing, logistics, and support capacity to the 7,800-employee facility, which has become the company’s sole 787 production center following consolidation from Everett, Washington, in 2020.
  • Achieving the higher output rate would restore Dreamliner production to pre-pandemic levels, subject to stable supply chains, sustained airline demand, and ongoing quality improvements.
  • As of September 2025, Boeing reported 1,048 Dreamliners pending delivery, reflecting sustained customer interest in the long-range twinjet as airlines rebuild international capacity.
