Aircraft Production Set to Accelerate with Goal of 53 Narrowbody Jets Monthly by 2026

October 9, 2025

USA – Boeing is preparing for a significant production ramp-up of its B737 MAX family, aiming to increase output to as many as 53 aircraft per month by the end of 2026. The move reflects the U.S. manufacturer’s intent to restore higher production levels following years of regulatory and supply chain challenges, as well as strong global airline demand for narrowbody aircraft.

  • Boeing has reportedly informed suppliers that it intends to raise B737 MAX production from the current rate of 38 to 42 aircraft per month as early as October 2025, pending FAA approval.
  • A second increase is targeted for September 2026, followed by another later in the year — together expected to bring total output to approximately 53 jets per month by the end of 2026.
  • The planned escalation would represent Boeing’s most aggressive production growth trajectory since the model’s return to service, underscoring efforts to meet a robust order backlog and normalize delivery schedules.
  • In late September 2025, Boeing regained FAA authorization to conduct final safety inspections and issue airworthiness certificates for both the B737 MAX and B787 aircraft, a key milestone supporting faster delivery cycles.
