Airline Pilot Club and European Pilot Training Organisation, AeroLocarno, Launch APC Mentored ATPL Course

13th Jan 2023

Digital platform Airline Pilot Club (APC) and Swiss pilot training organization Aero Locarno have announced the launch of an APC Mentored ATPL course available exclusively to APC registered members.

Aero Locarno and APC have a well-established partnership that has allowed Aero Locarno to supply graduates to airlines such as Ryanair, Transavia, Air Astana, Wizz Air, Lauda, Air Dolomiti, Swiss, Swiss Air Force and Edelweiss.

Building on this, APC and Aero Locarno will be taking applicants from APC members to undergo ATPL training through two Gateways:

  • Gateway 1 Requirements: Ab initio cadets with no previous flight experience.
  • Gateway 2 Requirements: Applicants who have commenced training and / or holding a PPL and wish to join a coordinated training program in AeLo, mentored by APC

APC members who meet the entry requirements will be able to self-enrol into the selection process and the entire process will be managed through the APC platform using APC’s unique Lead Management Software.

At the end of the course, graduates will obtain an EASA ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) frozen integrated with the Commercial Pilot License (CPL) on twin-engine instrument aircraft (MEP IR) issued by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation. The course includes the Aero Locarno APS MCC that is founded on APC’s expertise in the enhanced MCC (AMC 2.FCL.735A).

APC and AeLo will use their extensive networks in the airline industry to ensure that students from the APC/AeLo training program are presented to recruiting airlines as high quality, airline-ready pilots.

APC’s free registration and unique process provides APC members with access to free online assessments of their suitability to a career as an airline pilot. APC’s Preparation Zone provides free online resources to prepare students for AON and Symbiotics assessments, the most widely used assessment systems in the world.

APC members will access powerful insurance policies to assist them in the funding of their pilot training.

Commenting on the announcement, APC founder and CEO, Captain Andy O’Shea said “This is the next logical step for APC to build on its great community of quality assured ATOs. Aero Locarno has undergone a full cycle of initial and revalidation quality assurance and has worked with APC experts to reach a standard where we can confidently say that students who graduate from this program will be welcome in any recruiting airline in Europe.

Our role will be to attract, screen and prepare program students before handing them over to Aero Locarno who will deliver world class training to our students. We will leverage existing partnerships such as with Airline Flight Academy to prepare students and to present them for airline assessments and selection.

To become eligible simply register free with APC. For Gateway 1, register as “I Want to be a Pilot”. For Gateway 2, register as “I am Training to be a Professional Pilot”. Existing APC members should update their profile.

Aero Locarno Head of Training and CEO, Captain Stefano Buratti said “We are honoured to be part of the community and to have been chosen by APC for its Mentored ATPL course. We know that the training standards delivered by Aero Locarno are appreciated by the aviation market: having them combined with the quality, the oversight and the network of APC will make our cadets excellent professionals and employable pilots, with unique competencies that will set them apart from other students.”
