Malaysia – MAB Academy, the training division of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), has opened its purpose-built Simulator Building at its campus in the Southern Support Zone of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), completing the airline group's full transition from its former 40-year-old Subang Training Center to a centralized, modern training facility.

The new Simulator Building houses six full flight simulator bays, including units for the Airbus A330neo, Boeing 737-800NG, and ATR 72-500, supporting the fleet types operated across Malaysia Airlines and regional carrier Firefly.
The facility features Southeast Asia's first Airbus A330neo full flight simulator, strengthening MAB Academy's widebody training capability. A Boeing 737-8 full flight simulator is expected to become operational by July 2026, manufactured by CAE under a long-standing partnership, to support next-generation narrowbody training requirements.
The facility introduces Malaysia's first water survival training pool equipped with wave simulation capability, enabling cabin crew and pilots to practice emergency water evacuation procedures under realistic conditions — a critical capability given Malaysia Airlines' extensive overwater route network across the South China Sea, Indian Ocean, and Pacific.
The building also includes a Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer, multiple briefing rooms, and a crew lounge, integrating all flight crew training requirements into a single location.
MAB Academy's future plans include expanding its training portfolio with the addition of pilot training pathways, including MPL and ATPL ground school.
New digital and AI tools are planned to enter the training ecosystem, including an AI-enabled Intelligence Mixed Reality (iMR) tool.
