Germany – Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) has announced that its new Boeing 777-9 Full Flight Simulator in Frankfurt has entered the authority acceptance phase, marking a significant milestone as the first Boeing 777-9 FFS in the entire European Union and one of only two in the world built for an aircraft type that has not yet received final certification.

The simulator is currently undergoing authority acceptance testing, with the process involving extensive test flights by LAT pilots, preparation of test results for regulatory submission, and snag clearance ahead of final approval; the device is targeted to be officially Ready for Training by end of May 2026 following successful authority certification.
The 777-9 FFS represents a notable sustainability advance: the new generation device consumes approximately one-third of the energy of its predecessor, driven by a switch from hydraulic to electric motion systems and the adoption of modern LED laser projectors and updated interfaces — equating to approximately 300,000 kWh saved per year, or around 100 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
With the new device, LAT's Frankfurt facility will operate 23 full flight simulators, reinforcing its position as one of the largest airline-managed training center group's globally.
The device was delivered by CAE.
The 777-9 FFS will enable LAT's airline customers to train on the newest Boeing widebody type to the highest current technological standards ahead of the aircraft's entry into commercial service.
