USA – American Airlines Group, one of the largest airline operators and pilot employers in the United States, has elected Mary Dillon to its board of directors, where she will serve on the Compensation Committee and the Corporate Governance and Public Responsibility Committee.
- Dillon brings more than four decades of experience in consumer, marketing, and operational leadership across major global brands, having served as President and CEO of Foot Locker from 2022 to 2025, CEO of Ulta Beauty from 2013 to 2021, and President and CEO of U.S. Cellular from 2010 to 2013.
- Prior to those roles, she served as Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald's Corporation and held senior executive positions at PepsiCo, including President of the Quaker Oats division.
- Dillon has extensive board experience, having previously served on the boards of Foot Locker, Starbucks, Ulta Beauty, U.S. Cellular, and Target, and has been a board member of KKR & Co. Inc. since 2018.
- On the pilot training and workforce front, American Airlines ratified a new five-year contract in January 2026 with its 350-plus flight crew training instructors and simulator pilot instructors, negotiated through the Transport Workers Union (TWU), securing pay increases effective January 19, 2026.
- American paused new pilot hiring for the latter half of 2024, before resuming hiring in August 2025, with a focus on fulfilling flow agreements from regional partners including Envoy Air, PSA Airlines, and Piedmont Airlines.
- In early 2024, American announced orders for 260 new aircraft, comprising 85 Airbus A321neo, 85 Boeing 737 MAX 10, and 90 Embraer E175 aircraft, along with options and purchase rights for an additional 193 aircraft.
