California, USA – California Aeronautical University (CAU) recently hosted Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) President Darren Pleasance for an exclusive Pilot Town Hall, bringing together CAU students, faculty, and members of the regional aviation community for a day of industry insight and engagement. The visit was part of Pleasance’s nationwide AOPA President’s Tour, aimed at connecting directly with pilots and flight training institutions across the United States.
Darren Pleasance shared his vision for the future of general aviation (GA), emphasizing AOPA’s continued efforts to support pilots, protect airports, and inspire the next generation of aviators.
In his remarks, Pleasance highlighted several key AOPA initiatives, including:
Supporting the transition to unleaded fuel for a more sustainable future.
Expanding AOPA’s high school STEM curriculum, now reaching over 100,000 students across the U.S.
Advocating for pilot mental health, ensuring aviators have access to support and resources.
Continuing AOPA’s leadership in safety, accessibility, and the freedom to fly.
Before the town hall, CAU President Matthew Johnston hosted Pleasance for lunch at the SkyWay Café and a guided campus tour, showcasing CAU’s fleet, flight training facilities, and growing student body.
The event drew attendees from the local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) chapter, airport tenants, and visiting pilots who flew in to participate.
