Arizona, USA – Aviation Performance Solutions (APS), a specialist provider of Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) for professional pilots, has launched Precision Data Overlay — a new instrumentation-based capability for its SIAI-Marchetti S211 jet UPRT programmes that synchronises flight data captured directly from aircraft systems with high-definition cockpit video to provide pilots with an objective post-flight analysis of each training event.

  • Precision Data Overlay delivers a synchronised view of airspeed, altitude, attitude, G-loading, coordination, direction, and geographic position alongside cockpit video, enabling pilots to compare their in-flight perception with the actual aircraft state and control inputs recorded during each upset training event.
  • The capability addresses a documented challenge in high-stress training environments: under physiological stress including startle and surprise responses, pilot perception and memory frequently diverge from what actually occurred. The objective data reference is designed to strengthen accurate mental model formation, improve retention, and enhance reliability of pilot performance in real-world upset scenarios.
  • Loss of control in-flight (LOC-I) remains the leading cause of fatal aviation accidents worldwide. APS positions its in-aircraft jet UPRT as delivering real-envelope exposure — including startle and surprise responses — that simulator-based training alone cannot fully replicate.
  • Precision Data Overlay is available immediately across all APS jet programmes. APS operates from Mesa, Arizona, and serves major airlines, business aviation operators, military clients, government agencies, and aviation insurance organisations globally.

  • "In jet upset training, events unfold quickly and under real physiological stress, where perception often diverges from reality. Precision data overlay closes that gap by giving pilots an objective view of what actually occurred, how their inputs affected the aircraft, how energy and state evolved, and why the outcome developed the way it did. That level of clarity builds accurate understanding, strengthens retention, and improves the reliability of pilot performance when it matters most," said Paul 'BJ' Ransbury, CEO of Aviation Performance Solutions.
