Florida, USA – ATP Flight School has reported that hiring of its graduates by legacy, major and national airlines during January-August 2026 was nearly 40% higher than during the same period in 2025.
- More than 110 ATP graduates have been hired by American Airlines during 2026 through August, making it the largest major-airline destination identified by ATP in its September 2 update. The underlying 40% year-on-year figure is based on ATP's internal placement records covering graduates joining legacy, major and national airlines.
- SkyWest Airlines has hired 119 ATP graduates during 2026, according to ATP, making the regional airline the largest regional employer of its graduates. SkyWest currently continues to recruit first officers and operate its Pilot Pathway Program, with ATP listed as an Elite Partner whose students can enter the programme from the beginning of flight training.
- ATP stated that 1,170 graduates had been hired by regional and major airlines during the preceding 12 months.
- ATP attributes part of the regional recruitment activity to major airlines drawing experienced pilots from regional carriers, which subsequently creates replacement requirements at the regional level.
- ATP also said major airlines indicated during the 2026 Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals conference that recruitment would remain strong in 2027.
- AFM previously reported in July 2026 that ATP's published airline hiring outlook identified at least 6,500 planned pilot hires across American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines during 2026, comprising stated targets of 1,700 at American and 2,000 each at Delta and United. The latest ATP placement data provides a subsequent indication of how increased major-airline recruitment is flowing through to one large US flight-training pipeline.
- AFM also previously reported that 122 ATP students joined the SkyWest Pilot Pathway Program in May 2026.
- ATP currently has 38 airline-backed Career Tracks covering regional, major, corporate and cargo operators. The training provider states that its pathways include structured progression toward American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines through their respective airline and regional-affiliate programmes.
- The company expanded its entry-level training offering in August 2026 with the Career Track Discovery Program, which provides 23 flight hours and the first four weeks of the Airline Career Pilot Program for $4,995 before a student commits to the complete career course. AFM previously reported that the programme is available across more than 85 ATP training centres.
- ATP currently operates 658 training aircraft comprising:
- 326 Cessna 172 Skyhawks,
- 230 Piper Archer TX aircraft and
- 102 Piper PA-44 Seminoles.
- It also reports 177 simulation devices and 87 flight-school locations across the United States.
