Australian Airline Consolidates Regional and Domestic Leadership in Major Executive Restructure in 2025

December 4, 2025

Australia – Qantas has reshaped its senior leadership structure, with Qantas Domestic CEO Markus Svensson assuming responsibility for the airline’s regional subsidiary Qantas Link as part of a broader Group Leadership Team (GLT) reorganisation. The move consolidates oversight of Qantas’ domestic and regional operations under a single executive, while Qantas Link continues to retain its own AOC structures and operational accountabilities.

  • The change follows the transition of former Qantas Link CEO Rachel Yangoyan into the newly created role of Chief Technology, AI and Transformation Officer, effective immediately.
  • Svensson’s portfolio will also expand to include customer care and recovery, aligning frontline operational performance and service recovery functions under one executive.
  • The consolidation of Qantas Link into the domestic leadership portfolio reflects long-standing operational alignment between the two businesses; Qantas and Qantas Link “red-tail” services have historically been treated as a unified network for metrics such as on-time performance reporting.
