Australia's Alliance Aviation Appoints Steven Greenway as CEO from October 2026

August 19, 2026

Australia – Australian ACMI, contract and charter operator Alliance Aviation Services has appointed former flyadeal Chief Executive Officer Steven Greenway as CEO, effective 1 October 2026, succeeding Stewart Tully.

  • Greenway will commence as CEO on 1 October 2026, while Tully will remain with Alliance until 29 October to support the transition after more than 11 years with the company.
  • In commenting separately on the appointment, Greenway described the move as a return home after an international career spanning airlines and advisory roles across Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East. The Brisbane-raised executive said he had long admired Alliance and highlighted its role across fly-in fly-out, charter and ACMI operations.
  • Greenway most recently served as CEO of flyadeal, the low-cost airline subsidiary of Saudia Group. His earlier roles included Executive Vice President at WestJet and President of Swoop, CEO of reward-U, Chief Commercial Officer of Scoot and Partner at Mango Aviation Partners.
  • Current Alliance recruitment material describes a fleet of 79 aircraft and a workforce of more than 1,500 employees.

Statements

  • “Alliance Airlines is a business I have long admired. Australia's leading provider of FIFO and charter aviation services. Built on safety, reliability, and a culture that punches well above its weight. Not glamour. Something better. Something essential,” said Steven Greenway, incoming Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Aviation.
  • “Broader than many realise, too. The ACMI relationship with Qantas puts Alliance Airlines aircraft and crews at the heart of one of the world's most iconic brands — delivering reliably under someone else's livery, SOP's, day after day. That's a different kind of discipline. Alliance Airlines does it well,” said Greenway.
  • “FIFO. Charter. ACMI. Three missions. One culture of getting it done. And an Australian aviation market with real room to grow,” said Greenway.
