Australia's Proflight Training Gains CASA Approval for ERJ 170/190 Type Rating Across Australia, Japan, and Europe

Australia – Proflight Training, an independent CASA-approved Part 142 training organisation, has received Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) approval to conduct Embraer ERJ 170/190 type rating training at approved locations across Australia, Japan, and Europe — adding a third aircraft platform to its existing type rating portfolio alongside the DHC8 (Q400) and Airbus A320.

• The CASA approval for ERJ 170/190 type rating training expands Proflight Training's geographic reach across three continents, enabling pilots based in the Asia-Pacific and European regions to access Australian-regulated Embraer type rating programmes without travelling to a single location.
• Proflight Training operates across a multi-location network spanning Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth in Australia, alongside international locations in Auckland, Bangkok, and Tokyo. The ERJ 170/190 approval adds Japan and European locations to the company's approved training footprint.
• The company's existing training portfolio covers DHC8 (100–400 series) and Airbus A320 type ratings, MCC, and ATPL licence training and testing. Proflight commenced its first Airbus A320 type rating in July 2024 using Pacific Simulators' Eurojet trainer at the International Aviation Academy of New Zealand (IAANZ).
• In September 2025, Proflight Training partnered with FMS solutions provider Heading365 to deploy customised Flight Management System training software across its locations, covering A320, A330, B737, and E-Jet families — a partnership that now aligns with the addition of ERJ 170/190 training to its approved programmes.
• The ERJ 170/190 platform is operated by airlines across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, making the type rating increasingly relevant for pilot career pathways in regional and mainline operations.
