Avelo Airlines to Recruit First Officers at ATP Career Expo in Texas in October 2026

Texas, USA – US carrier Avelo Airlines will attend ATP Flight School's Career Expo at Arlington Municipal Airport on October 1, 2026 as it continues recruiting additional First Officers. Avelo Vice President Flight Operations Scott Hall and Talent Acquisition Lead Olivia Comer are scheduled to meet ATP students and graduates at the event, extending a pilot recruitment relationship between Avelo and ATP that dates to 2021.

• Avelo had hired 50 pilots during 2026 as of September 10, with its October new-hire training class already full and recruitment underway for a November class. The airline was also moving 18 First Officers into captain upgrade training during September.
• Hall said Avelo is continuing to seek additional First Officers and described ATP as a long-standing partner.
• The ATP Career Expo will take place on October 1 at ATP's Arlington Municipal Airport (GKY) campus in Arlington, Texas. The event is open to ATP students and graduates and includes airline and industry networking, career briefings and résumé reviews through ATP Career Services. ATP's Arlington operation is a 25,875-square-foot pilot and maintenance training campus.
• ATP and Avelo established their pilot hiring partnership in December 2021. The original Avelo Direct Program created a pathway for ATP pilots reaching 1,500 flight hours to progress into Boeing 737 First Officer positions after completing the applicable selection and jet-transition requirements.
• The current ATP Avelo Career Track allows recommended ATP instructors to interview with the airline as they build experience, with successful candidates able to receive conditional employment before reaching the experience required to transition to Avelo. AFM previously reported that Hall met ATP students and instructors at the training provider's Falcon Field location in Georgia in July 2026 as part of the same recruitment relationship.
• Avelo's published First Officer requirements include an unrestricted ATP, Military Restricted ATP or qualifying non-military R-ATP pathway, completion of ATP-CTP and the ATP written examination, and a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate. Heavy-jet or Boeing experience and a Boeing 737 type rating are preferred rather than mandatory.
• The recruitment activity comes ahead of Avelo's November 11 opening of its new McKinney National Airport base in North Texas. Avelo announced on September 24 that three Boeing 737NG aircraft will be based at McKinney, with approximately 150 jobs planned across pilots, cabin crew, maintenance and airport functions.
• Avelo's new-hire Boeing 737 training is conducted at Avenger Flight Group's Dallas Training Center, with the airline providing travel and accommodation during training before pilots progress through Initial Operating Experience.
