United Kingdom – Aviation training technology developer Cineon has reported the first six months of operational results from its TACET-Walkaround virtual reality (VR) training system at UK airline Jet2.com. The jointly developed platform has now been incorporated into the airline's standard type rating training pathway, with Jet2 reporting improvements in training efficiency, scheduling flexibility and pilot preparedness alongside reductions in training delivery costs.

More than 75 Jet2.com pilots have completed a combined 806 TACET-Walkaround training sessions during the first six months of deployment, according to Cineon's October 27, 2026 case study.
Jet2 reported that the system has reduced its reliance on operational aircraft for pre-flight inspection training, addressing previous constraints involving aircraft availability, instructor workload, scheduling and opportunities for repeated practice.
The airline also reported reductions in the direct and indirect costs associated with delivering walkaround training.
Pilot and instructor feedback identified improvements in assessment consistency, instructor standardisation, learner confidence and training preparedness. The airline also reported greater flexibility in scheduling training activities and providing additional practice opportunities.
TACET-Walkaround was introduced at Jet2.com's Manchester and Bradford training centres using six HTC VIVE Focus Vision headsets. The system received UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approval as an Other Training Device (OTD) in March 2026.
TACET-Walkaround allows pilots to undertake simulated pre-flight aircraft inspections without requiring access to an operational aircraft. Compatible with Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A321neo aircraft, the system incorporates eye-tracking technology and Cineon's Empathic Learning Engine (ELE) to assess scanning efficiency, visual attention, situational awareness, hazard detection and decision-making. Performance data is presented through an instructor dashboard to support Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) and Evidence-Based Training (EBT).
AFM previously reported that Cineon secured UK CAA approval for TACET-Walkaround in March 2026, with Jet2.com becoming the launch airline customer. The latest results provide the first disclosed operational training volumes and airline-reported benefits following deployment.
