Biman Bangladesh Orders Five More 787-10s and Six 737-8s

Bangladesh – State-owned flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed a second Boeing aircraft order in 2026, adding five 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8s to its fleet plan. Combined with its April order, the airline now has 25 Boeing 787 and 737 MAX aircraft on order.

• Biman’s combined 2026 Boeing orderbook now comprises 13 Boeing 787-10s, two 787-9s and 10 Boeing 737-8s. The September 23 order covers 11 aircraft, following the April commitment for eight 787-10s, two 787-9s and four 737-8s.
• The latest agreement represents Biman’s second Boeing purchase this year and increases its 2026 firm commitment from 14 to 25 aircraft. Boeing described the April transaction as Biman’s largest-ever aircraft order at the time.
• Biman already operates six Boeing 787 Dreamliners — four 787-8s and two 787-9s — meaning the 15 additional Dreamliners ordered during 2026 will expand an established aircraft family rather than introduce an entirely new widebody type.
• Biman’s current public fleet table lists 19 aircraft comprising four 787-8s, two 787-9s, four 777-300ERs, four Boeing 737s and five Dash 8-400s.
• Bangladesh Airlines Training Center (BATC), Biman’s in-house training organisation in Dhaka, currently conducts approved cockpit crew ground training. BATC’s published development plan also identifies installation of a Full Flight Simulator as a future priority before development into an independent CAAB-approved type-rating training organisation.
