Sri Lanka – Blue Skies Aviation Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, a Sri Lanka-based aviation services company, marked the soft launch of its sister company Blue Skies Aviation Academy on 4 March 2026, formalising the initial leadership appointments that will guide the academy toward the commencement of its pilot training programmes and operational activities.
- Blue Skies Aviation Academy has been established as a newly formed Approved Training Organization (ATO), commencing operations with an initial intake of 15 student pilots, with four intakes planned per year, scaling to a projected annual training capacity of up to 60 students.
- At the soft launch event, letters of appointment were formally presented to the academy's founding leadership team, comprising;
- Captain Elmo Jayawardena as Head of Training
- Captain Suduil Gamage as Chief Flight Instructor
- Mrs. K. V. A. I. Devika as Head of Operations.
- The academy has selected an all-Tecnam training fleet, acquiring three Tecnam P-Mentors and one P2006T NG, standardising on a common cockpit philosophy and modern glass-cockpit avionics environment to enable structured student progression from ab initio to multi-engine and instrument qualifications.
- Blue Skies Aviation Solutions holds CAASL certification as an Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) and also serves as the authorised dealer for Garmin Aviation Products in Sri Lanka, providing a comprehensive range of services including AMO, CAMO, FBO, aircraft spare provisioning, and aviation staffing.
