Boeing 737 MAX 7 Cleared by Regulator — Differences Training Now in Focus for Operators

October 21, 2025

USA – Boeing’s 737 MAX 7 has officially received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after a six-year delay, paving the way for deliveries to airline customers. However, while the aircraft shares type commonality with the MAX 8 and MAX 9, operators and training providers are preparing for mandatory differences training due to notable system variances.

  • FAA certification for the Boeing 737 MAX 7 was granted in October 2025, after delays related primarily to flight control and engine anti-ice system concerns.
  • Airlines operating the MAX 8 and MAX 9 must still conduct differences training for flight crews transitioning to the MAX 7, as its systems are not fully identical across the MAX series.
  • The FAA mandates that operators conduct formal training on variant-specific systems and procedures for MAX aircraft, even within the same type rating.
  • Training providers are already reporting a rise in inquiries from airlines seeking transition training capacity ahead of expected deliveries of the MAX 7.
