Brazil – ANAC-certified pilot training provider EPA Training Center has secured Level 5 Flight Training Device (FTD) qualification from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency for its Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante simulator, following a series of upgrades underway since 2024. EPA says the Level 5 qualification increases the amount of training that can be credited in the device against aircraft training, expanding simulator-based capacity for standard and recurrent Bandeirante programmes.

  • EPA said the latest technical work included refinements to the EMB-110 flight dynamics model and improvements to the Instructor Operating Station (IOS).
  • EPA states that it is the only training centre globally operating an EMB-110 Bandeirante flight training device. Its current EMB-110 familiarisation programme includes 20 hours of ground school, eight hours in a Cockpit Procedures Trainer and eight hours as Pilot Flying in the FTD.
  • EPA acquired its EMB-110 and EMB-120 training devices from Embraer in 2006 as part of the development of its regional aircraft simulator training capability.
  • AFM previously reported that EPA upgraded the EMB-110 simulator with a new visual system in 2025. That modification was developed and integrated by EPA’s technical team and expanded the device’s ability to support normal, abnormal and operational training scenarios.
  • EPA’s wider regional aircraft training portfolio includes a Level C ATR 42-500 Full Flight Simulator, which also supports ATR 72-500, ATR 72-200 and ATR 42-300 training; a Level D ERJ-145 Full Flight Simulator supporting ERJ-135, ERJ-140 and Legacy 600/650 variants; and a Level B EMB-120 Brasília Full Flight Simulator.
